Regatta Sunday is Funday

Sunday 2nd September

COMPETE in the SUNDAY FUNDAY RACE for the DIRTY DOG CUP

GREAT PRIZES PROVDED BY SALCOMBE GIN

It is a race with IRC and NHC handicaps used, and started from a single start line/gate, probably in the middle course area, and operating on VHF 37a. Time for first start will be 1030.

Buoys will be laid/used as per Appendix 1 of the Regatta SIs.

Each class will be given an initial buoy to round from the starting gate, and 5 other buoys to use, as it chooses, in any order, to complete 3 laps and passing through the gate in the same direction as the start, and using 2 of the designated marks for each lap.

Marks have now been allocated and are available here, on the official noticeboard, and on VHF 37a.

Navigators/tacticians/argumentative foredeck crews all have a choice as to which marks are used, in whatever order, dependent upon wind/tide and inclination. All marks designated to a class are to be used once, leaving them to starboard During the first lap boats are to anchor for 5 minutes before then weighing and proceeding.

On lap two, a man overboard exercise and recovery (using a fender tied to a bucket) is to be completed.

During lap three boats are to heave to and reef fully to storm configurations, before setting sails as they see fit.

Boats will be timed through the gate and these times may be used as finishing times.

TO WIN boats must also come up with a canine themed cocktail based on Salcombe Gin to be submitted by 1600, points will be awarded which will be combined with their finishing position.

Time limit of 1500 is for all classes.

Prizes will be given, with a prizegiving at RDYC at 17:00 Sunday.

RRS rule 2 and 4 are to be observed although the other part 2 rules shall also apply.

The entry fee is just £20 per day until the end of July, or £25 thereafter, click here to enter.
